soup v coffee in a cup question

Why is it when putting a "cup of soup" soup into a cup it stays hot for ages. Put hot coffee/tea in a cup it goes cold a lot quicker using same cup?

One of the things I often ponder about

I put cold milk in my coffee/tea so that cools it down pretty quick.

Hmmm dunno.
I use mugs anyway. Maybe it's because mugs are deeper than cups and keep the heat in better?

I agree with Dongle.

Partly because we add cold milk, but also the consistency of soup is much thicker than a coffee, so it will hold the heat more.

I don't use 'cup of soup' but would not have thought of putting it in the same cup as my tea anyway. Does it improve the flavour?
