The Malthouse Compromise

At first glance, the MH looks to solve the Irish border issues and and solve the remainers fears over trade.

I think this could be the way to get Brexit over the line.

Bread I think the Malthouse Compromise contains a large element of Steve Baker's 'A Better Deal and A Better Future' and it does seem reasonable but you can be sure some beggers will object to any proposal that is put forward not least those who don't want any deal they just want us to stay in the EU.

Re: The Malthouse Compromise

Already the EU are stating that they will reject the Malthouse Compromise because it is so similar to the Max Fac mooted last year, which they also rejected.
It's become pretty obvious to everyone that the EU have absolutely no intention of accepting anything other than the signed withdrawal agreement and the backstop with every advantage on their side? (Thanks Theresa).

How on earth are we meant to proceed to the benefit of both, when one side, the EU, are acting like children?

Re: The Malthouse Compromise

The irony of course if the EU won't compromise is that we leave with no deal, so there will be no backstop in any case! Have they really thought this through?

No backstop, but a hard border from day 1 or 2 or 3 or...

Re: The Malthouse Compromise

I don't get it either Barry! Is it a case of who blinks first?
Are the EU so up their own backsides that they are sure that Theresa May will be so desperate to get a new deal she will be only too willing to give up some of her promised Red Lines?.
Even worse, is Theresa May, as a closet remainer, willing to sell us out?

I wish it was anyone other than her that was negotiating our future.

Well you could start by erasing one or more red lines. The present deal is one made by your own devising. Change a line and the deal can be adapted. Come on britain, play ball!
