The sooner the better.

The Dutch aren't happy... no solidarity with the EU here.

Despite what Europhiles and the likes of Barnier & von der Leyen try to keep saying just to up the ante, the EU is very far from united regarding Brexit.
We've seen Flemish and German MEP's decrying the EU's behaviour while Britain forges forward with trade talks and deals - even with an EFTA member today signing a deal - and huge investments are still being made into the UK rather than the EU (as with the recent £1 billion pharma investment).
The EU are being slapped in the face already - if they don't give the UK what it wants & Boris does take us out with no deal, that won't improve the EU's position.
They were warned, long ago.
But the remainers here together with the EU pooh-poohed those warnings.

As to one of the remainers' favourite attempts at proving Brexit wrong with their "where is your 'we hold all the cards' " - it's here. Happening now in front of your eyes (if you open them).
You would probably have seen that earlier had it not been for Treason May and her capitulations.
We have nothing much to lose that can't quickly be regained, as the EU are already starting to see.
The EU can't say the same.
They risk hundreds of thousands of EU jobs and their business knows it; look at the letter below.

Here's the actual letter from industrial leaders of Germany, France and Italy from 14th October begging both parties to make a deal and why; they are sh**-scared of the amount of damage a no deal Brexit will cost them.

"A brutal split between continental Europe and the UK would add further difficulties to the difficulties and would undermine tens of thousands of jobs and activities in all our countries."

It means pretty much a media blackout until the final trade agreement is announced.

I just hope this doesn't mean the UK have compromised on the level playing field, fisheries and the ECJ etc - I doubt it but history tells me always to be cautious .... Nigel is watching !

Talks resume after barnier has 'admitted' both parties need to compromise.
But the UK side agreed to resume talks after Mr Barnier said "compromises on both sides" were needed, in a speech on Wednesday. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-54642907

However, Speaking at an event in Dublin ahead of the eighth round of trade talks next week, Mr Barnier claimed the EU "has moved" on some of its objectives.
The chief negotiator for the bloc said it was now the "choice" and "responsibility" of the UK to do the same, namely over key issues such as*the so-called level-playing field*and fisheries. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-53998244

So if no 10 now agrees that compromises from both sides are needed, boris has caved in.

Don't tell porkies just to put your own biased spin on things.

Barnier caved.
Even the likes of Germany's Handelsblatt say so.
"EU negotiator Barnier surprisingly gives in - and the Tories celebrate Prime Minister Johnson" (translated from German)

I would put the handelsblatt at the same level as the express.

A british newspaper explained it this way:
One seemingly innocuous phrase used by Michel Barnier on Wednesday – that “both sides” must compromise – was enough for No 10 to restart talks. There doesn’t appear to have been any substantial concessions made behind the scenes, which suggests the last few days has been pure grandstanding. *
