As I have just said elsewhere in these forums, Macron's "cat-kicking" but completely understandable desires are in contravention of one of the EU's basic tenets.

On the bright side, seeing how such migration affects France and with what Macron wants to do it makes it difficult for him to effectively argue against better control of UK-bound illegal migrants.

Poke in the eye for Merkel methinks and his tantrum over fishing rights and the Germans being the priority now.

Re: Goodbye Schengen

Schengen was a bad idea to start with if it allowed non-EU citizens free rein to wander throughout Europe without adequate checks.

Clearly there are flaws in the system.

Many of the flaws have been known for decades.
Germans for example complained often loudly of Turkish "guest workers" taking German jobs over 50 years ago, well before Schengen so the impact of mass migration has long been known and yet Schengen encouraged just that type of migration.

For one example apart from the obvious since the introduction of an open border policy; Poland has seen their country almost torn apart by the influx of workers not only from Ukraine but recently from Nepal, Bangladesh and India. This has led not only to an anti-immigrant hardline stance in Poland but it is responsible for Poland's populist government's judicial reforms being at odds with the EU.
That of course is just one of the EU's many ongoing ............ disagreements.

This particular one might well come to a head soon since it seems that the EU's sneakiness means that together with Hungary, Poland could well see a loss in funding for not obeying the EU.
It will be interesting watching this disagreement develop further, as it most certainly will.

Open borders and mass immigration is how the EU are eroding national identities.

Yes,at last one of them has admitted their master plan doesnt
work?
Once they have nowhere to shunt all the illegals then their problems
will get worse? We need to change our laws regarding the the
illegals as well of course !!

Re: Goodbye Schengen

Hi

Schengen is not an issue.

It is much like the USA, same size, get in , free to travel.

The problem is Merkel, she invited them in on her own, no consultation at all.

We are not part of Schengen yet are the easiest Country to enter.

I will be very happy on 1st January when the EU will have nothing to do with us at all and it will be entirely down to Boris and Pritti to take back control.

The fact is we allow in more None EU immigrants than EU Immigrants.

Time for a change.

Oh how I wish you would understand the difference between Schengen and EU immigration rules.
