After I left the 'vampire' clinic this afternoon, popped next door into the supermarket to buy something for Sunday lunch. Saw a nice Pork joint, so also bought a large bottle of cider. Pork cooked in cider in my slow cooker on Saturday night. Luverly!!!!Re: What are you having for lunch/dinner?

Further to Hazel's response about 'Turkey's' I saw something on t.v. over Christmas (may have been foodie prog, may even have been QI) which explained that originally there was a bird found in Asia (forget its name but recall something about it having a 'bony protuberance' on its head) and which was exported via the country of Turkey. These were first known as Turkey Birds, and eventually simply turkey. Then later when the bird which we know today as a turkey, was discovered in America and brought over here it was considered to be very similar both in looks and taste, and people began to also refer to it as, a turkey. Eventually the original 'turkey' lost popularity and disappeared and the American bird became universally known as a turkey.
