Saudi reelected to UN council of Human Rights

Saudi Arabia was re-elected to the UN Human Rights council. Really? After bombing funerals parades., customary beheadings, the imprisonment and flogging of homosexuals and political prisoners? Or the outright subjugation of human’s rights for over 50% of its population (females) – denied the right to drive, leave the house alone, wear what they chose, get a passport, travel overseas, open a bank account, swim, etc etc etc.?

Russia didn't make it .
But China ( don't mention Tibet ) and various other bastions of Human Rights managed to maintain their positions .

What a travesty the UN has become .

Did the UN give any reasons for this seemingly bizarre re-election?

Are they not accountable for their decisions?

With the connivance of both the U.S. and UK because of their anti-Russia paranoia.

" British PM reiterates UK support for Saudi Arabia’s place on UN Human Rights Council "
https://www.neweurope.eu/article/bri...ights-council/
Blame Muddy !
Well hell, she keeps carping on about Manus and Nauru as if I am personally responsible

Sane people know that not all Brits support Saudi Arabia.
Only an insane person would imply that all (or even most) Australians support offshore detention.

Difference ? I have been actively involved for some years in the cause of asylum-seekers.
Tell us about your efforts to keep the Saudis off the UN Human Rights Council, dear ..............

And did you get a response from the Aus PM's office when I gave you his Email addy just to make it easy ?

Your efforts have not been very sucessful have they ?

Indeed only last week the Australian immigration minister Peter Dutton announced a lifetime ban on anyone arriving illegally to Australia .

For sure, Julie !
Likewise, polls in Australia very clearly show that most people here do not support our government's policies regarding asylum-seekers.
Which does not prevent one strange individual from constantly hurling personal barbs about it.

And a complete waste of time.

The only people who listen to what they say are the naive and compliant countries like... well... like Britain!
