Saving those coins.

My daughter bought me a porcelain money box to save £2.00 coins in.

You can't open it. You have to smash it when you want the contents inside, so my odd two pound coins go in there until Christmas and hope I get a nice sum of money.

Do you save your coins?

Maursey you don't have to smash it? You slide a knife through the slot and watch the coins fall out

We save our coins in a Demi John bottle all year and then use the money either for holiday's or for something special

Re: Saving those coins.

I have saved £2 coins since they were first minted (1998). They have been used to pay for a UK holiday, pay vet bills and unexpected repair bills over the years. I save them in a brass Post box money bank that was given to me as a young child.

I have also save 50p coins for about 5 years.

When I reach £100 of either, it is banked for my rainy day spend.

I save 5p 2p and 1p pieces....then I never know what to do with them!!
I believe Asda has a machine that weighs them and pays you but I'm sure it's more than 5%, more like 10%.
You can get bags from the bank and do it yourself if you can be bothered

Thanks Sue. Will give that a try as I really like the porcelain jar.

Re: Saving those coins.

All my income is paid straight into my bank and I then take out what I need. Some months I take out more than goes in while other months more goes in than I take out. Those months I save a little. No messing about with money boxes or jars for me !
