Happy Yule

The winter solstice

Yule is a turning point in the year - a time from when the days start to grow longer and the nights shorter. Light is returning!

This is the time of the rebirth of the Sun God. A time of celebration and a time to honour the the Great Mother Goddess - bringer of new life and hope to the land.

I certainly look forward to the longer days FF. Used to be out walking on the mountains till 9pm in the summer!

One of the best days in the year, in my book. No wonder the ancients built a 'temple' to it, at Stonehenge.

Stonehenge marks the summer solstice really.
For the winter solstice, have a look at Newgrange - it really is amazing

An undergound `room` that is illuminated only on the winter solstice. Quite wonderful.
