Furniture

What a suprise. The covers on my old and very heavy sofa +the two chairs have become very tatty. I have been thinking about paying over £100 to have them removed and buying new. But,and just to see,I asked someone come round for a price to get new covers.

It turns out I have literally been sitting on a 1930s horsehair sofa bed(aha that why it is so heavy) and chairs of the same vintage and quality. I am having them taken away early next year to be refurbished. It`s going to cost £1700 but they will look and feel pristine.

Not cheap I know but to think they may have gone to the tip.

Re: Furniture

The re-cover will happen soon but no date yet. Tomorrow I have the carpet folks coming to measure up for the living room and hall. I`m trying to get it arranged so that the carpets are fitting whilst the 3 piece is away.

This bungalow will most probably see me out so I want it to be a place I can welcome friends to.

Re: Furniture

I remember my grandparents having their old sofas recovered and they looked fantastic. Of course, in those days, sofas were made to last but I don't think it's worth it with modern sofas.

You can get furniture grade fabric reasonably priced on eBay and just staple it onto modern sofas yourself, we've done it a few times extends life significantly.

My parents had a go a few years ago and made a great job of it. My They actually managed all the pleating and braiding too.

Re: Furniture

I'm envious of your suite older, I love renovating old furniture its so satisfying. I wish I had the space to do reupholstering, I would love that. Your new suite will be lovely much nicer and better quality than any modern stuff.
