I am afraid with my knees, toes, lower back issues I would be more of a hinderance rather than a help - I could man the phones though !

A certain level of fitness and stamina required otherwise more of a hindrance than a help. I think it's probably a younger persons job.

My eldest son is a recently retired London Firefighter having just completed thirty two years service. He has worked with a great many women firefighters over the years and has said so many times that he had no problem at all working with them. In fact lots of them were far more effective than some of the male watch.
