Re: Jagger ill

I suspect if he's had a scan and "something" has shown up then it's probably cancer of some sort. God knows what he's smoked for decades, but if he does die then it's definitely the end of an era. The Stones seem to have been with us forever and I for one love their early stuff.

I'd love to have seen them last year (like the lucky Ruthio did ), but I went to see Roger Waters instead. One big band per year at those prices I'm afraid.
I was pretty sure I remembered it was Guns N' Roses being the support band that night but had to check out a few dates to be certain. Guns N' Roses tour dates bring them to Wembley on the same date of The Urban Jungle tour, so it must have been them.

Something else remembered from the concert was a large inflatable in the shape of a man (?) that could have done with a bit more air in it. Also, the stadium was fairly empty when we arrived, so we stood near the front central to the stage. As more people gathered around us, the smell of weed stated to waft around. I said to my mate that we'd better move to the side where there was more room before we floated over there with the effects of the smoke.

We stood in the stands a few tiers up and close to the stage. It turned out to be a really good place to be because Mick was very close every time he came to that end of the stage. Funny to see someone so close up whose music I'd danced to, romanced to and who had just always been around since I was a teenager.

I'd have been 46 when I went to see The Stones. Mick Jagger would have been 47.

Edit: changed the ages.

Yes it's strange about that support band, Mart. I'd be surprised if it was Guns N' Roses though as they were huge themselves at the time and were busy recording the two 'Use Your Illusion' albums which came out the following year. But then, even they wouldn't turn down a support slot from the Stones. I'm thinking it might have been Faith No More.....the jury is out!

I remember the inflatables and they were a little weird. I couldn't make out what they were either!

Nope I didn't smell any weed on that occasion, being all dressed up in my RAF blues, but I do recall plenty of it being smoked by the wheelchair concert goers a few weeks later when I was looking after them when I saw Fleetwood Mac!

Mick Jagger 'to undergo heart surgery this week' after cancelling tour

https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebri...dergo-14219863

The 75-year-old will apparently have an operation to replace a heart valve in New York in the coming days, the Drudge Report claims.

He is expected to made a full recovery and return to stage by summer.
Sounds almost routine but all surgery carries risks ..... good luck to him .....

Guns 'n' roses supported the Stones for 4 nights at the LA Coliseum and were paid a million dollars. The support act at Wembley were Gun from Glasgow.
