Of course there's a long way to go but IMHO you're missing the obvious.
Nissan/Renault for example were going to scale back European production even going so far as to close the Barcelona plant, and we all know about the threats to close Sunderland.
We've seen them frequently ....... up until now.
Having Lithium, the battery manufacturing facilities and an experienced workforce at a time when the auto industry is undergoing huge change was obviously a huge deciding factor for Nissan; they said as much.
When not many places in Europe can provide what the UK can and in doing so (as Nissan said) provide a competetive advantage over other auto manufacturers in the region, the future looks very promising.
