Van der Valk

Having a lovely time watching Barry Foster as Van der Valk
a Detective in Amsterdam on 'Talking Pictures'.
A very good Actor and attractive with his blonde curly hair.
Sadly now deceased in 2002 age 70.

In the Talking Pictures Channel, everyone seemed to enjoy smoking and a drink as well, including women.
You would be asked, "Would you like a cigarette"?
How nice to see all those lovely cars, many owned by the Police Force.
Also in those days, people were smartly dressed and had polished shoes, and... no bad language.

It is a great pleasure to watch the Old Films when Actors and a Actresses could really act and were articulate too

Re: Van der Valk

I watched this the other day. I remember the series as a child but it wasn't terribly interesting then.

I do not think it would interest a child especially a girl.

I did enjoy other detective series such as Ironside and Kojak, even though I probably didn't understand half of what was going on they were easy to follow. Not sure why this one didn't hit the spot. It wasn't as well directed maybe.

It's funny though to watch things as an adult and you realise how much went over your head as a child.

Re: Van der Valk

Same here the tune was the first thing I thought of. I didn't know he died so long ago and not a great age......that's sad
