A riot van! What possible reason could they have for this. If this were not so frightening for the girl, the police would deserve the ridicule.

If this story is completely true then what a pity the police don't apply the same heavy-handed way with real 'no-goods' and criminals. Perhaps they are more difficult than a 12-year-old who has proved positive after a covid test so should be self-isolating? The real 'no-goods' and criminals in our country get away with a slap on the wrist, they must really be laughing their socks off when they see these kinds of cases.

In certain postcodes that would be a riot van, fully staffed.

Same here, up to a point. Using the same logic then it could happen that a police car with one or two officers get sent to a large scale incident instead of a fully manned riot van.

Another administrative muddle.

Mother tried to find out why the police visited to be told by Rochdale public health department that they had authorised this to happen. Blaming the mother because she did not say they were all isolating.

In a statement, GMP stopped short of apologising but admitted checks should be made with parents or legal guardians when children are told to self-isolate.
