Blisters on Both Legs by Shin Bones.

Anyone had blisters, large, blue & red, on the front of lower legs, next to the shin bones?

Very itchy.

Doctor is trying to change daily medications.

Cream stops the itch.

Don't yet know the cause.

Sounds weird Ted, what have you been up to?
They don't think it could be the start of leg ulcers, do they?
Hope it clears up and feels better soon.

I think they are putting it down to the blood thinners (they'e swapped out the amlodipine, for something else).

Been happening for a few months.

Not easy to diagnose on line!

Hi Ted I think you are on Apixaban ?
If you bump (and it can be a slight bump) parts of your body bruising can be much worse than if you are not taking an anticoagulant.
Shins have little flesh to protect the skin so if you bang them the bruising can be awful.

I fell going out of the back door catching my hip and side on the door frame and was momentarily shaken and a bit sore. I was horrified when I saw the damage, my whole side was red and blue . I had a nice hot bath which helped.
I didn't go to the doctor, I now put an ice pack on bad bruising.
I am happy to accept bad bruising in exchange for the lowering of my stroke risk that comes with anticoagulation.

Thanks, Meg, yes I'm on Apixaban and will have a word with the Doc to see about that.

When he reviewed the symptoms he noted that but only commented on the amlodipine.

I've had no knocks, on the shin area, since this started.

Hi

I am on Clopidograel.

Shaving is an issue, bruising is massive and leaves you open to infection.,

Very interesting, LD.

On that webpage, the pictures of Stasis Dermatitis seem very much the same.

Thanks for that - will work on that (via Patients Contact webpage) - would be nice to see the doc, but I'll send him some piccies.

Further to that, the on-line write up suggests a number of possible causes - including poor circulation/heart. Since my Pacemaker is at the end of it's life span (according to Harefield) that must be worth following up on.

Harefield said I was in need of a new battery but kicked the date back due to Corvid!

Thanks, Swim

Could you tell me what the Clopidograel is for (from the instruction sheet)?
