Just to put things right

Recently there was a discussion about the sharpness of my photos. No matter what I did I just couldn't not get the photos sharp enough. This was using my Nikon 24-70mm lens.

Having now got the latest Tamron version it really shows up how bad the Nikon was, it had been dropped and repaired a couple of times. So it looks as if I was on a no win situation

as shot hand held and totally unedited or set up with the new Tamron lens.

Well I thought it was my glasses, Barry.
I wondered why the block paving, grass, and background was all blurry.

Realspeed - I am a 'happy snapper' rather than a photographer so I have no idea of the technicalities involved - but I like this photo. I like the clarity of the flower set against the blurred background - makes a good focal point.

That is the intention Mups. The idea is to focus the eye on the subject and not the background. It's just a shame that the flower isn't in total focus.

Oooer, sorry, I didn't know that.
Thanks gasman.

What is the point of that though?
I mean, before you take the photo, while you are looking at the ' subject' you want, it is not all blurry all round it, is it.
So why make it so in the end picture?
Another example is, I have never seen a painting with everything blurry around the topic?

Is it made blurry deliberately, or is it just the way it is focused?
