Sorry Pauline, do you have a link for this story? I'm afraid I haven't heard anything about it. Thanks

Re: Laser Attack

Link below on this news item, if it's the same one. Not only was it an aircraft but it was an air ambulance! What on earth is wrong with people who do this? Let's hope whoever it was is caught:

It's a criminal offence apparently:

I don't know if there is a recent attack but it has certainly happened many many times. Here are some 'sentences' in the US.

Re: Laser Attack

It has been an offence to point a laser at an aircraft here since 2007, it is a $5500 fine and up to 2 years imprisonment (I looked it up)

It started off with kids aiming classroom laser pointers at police helicopters so they stamped on it pretty hard haven't heard of it happening for a long time.

Re: Laser Attack

It seems these attacks are happening more than I ever thought, there was this news item back in February 2020:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...shire-51629720

Plus another one at Leeds Bradford Airport in August last year:

More information about laser attacks on aircraft is shown on the Civil Aviation Authority link below:

No pauline you got it right!
The first time l heard about this was about7 yrs ago when l read in the
newspapers that pilots landing at heathrow were being troubled
by flashes from the ground whichnwere thought to be from lasers
similar to disco lights?
The protestors in the Egyptian uprising also used these to blind
the security forces as well?
But to try to crash a passenger aircraft is a whole new ball game imo!

Donkeyman! 👎👎👎
