Re: Capsule wardrobe

the advice to travel light with durable strong wear and buy when you get there suits me - then you can even discard anything you've gone off whilst there - but heh that's a mans view point mainly [ and a few notably intelligent women!!] and a lot of women just lose control!! same with sex!!

Hi

Clothes shopping is very different in SE Asia Twink.

The night markets are great , vibrant, exciting and fantastic fun and food.

There is one in particular I love, a huge factory supplying Next is there, the prices are ridiculously cheap, about a tenth of what they are here and they will alter them to fit you in an hour.

There is a huge weekend market in Bangkok, 18,000 stalls.

They sell amazing shirts, straight from the factories.

The laugh is, you buy the shirt and then they offer you a range of labels to be sewn on.

In the north of Bangkok there is a market next to the Pandora factory.

Again, prices are a tenth of what we pay here.

I fly out with nothing, come back loaded.

My holidays are very cheap, sometimes even zero cost.

Hi

I love the place, but only in small doses.

It is a good base to travel from.

Kanchanaburi is only a £30 taxi ride away, Ko Samat is a doodle and Siam Reap is easy.

Hong Kong is a short hop away, easy place to meet my son who lives in Taiwan.

Agreed it's a good base for travel, SF. But think my days of Far Eastern travel are over now.

Hi

Never say never.

Last trip out I met an 84 year lady travelling on her own.

She was a blast, so much energy.

She even beat me at fishing.

Re: Capsule wardrobe

Travelling back from The USA once, they made us open both our cases and transfer some items from the slightly overweight case to the slightly underweight case or face a charge. I did mention that they were both hopefully going on the same plane, so what difference did it make but they made us do it anyway.

Jobsworth? Although elfinsafety may be the culprit in specifying maximum case weight...

Ok, not never...but since giving up diving the incentive is less than it was, and I've done most of the sights I wanted to do. And I don't like the jet lag.

And I very much doubt I will get anywhere near 84 years of age.

And I definitely won't be fishing...
