Beetroot chutney

I make this most years and is a real treat with cheese or cold meats. The beets and onions are from the garden and I've had to use Granny Smith's instead of Bramley's because they aren't currently in the shops for some reason I've also thrown in a couple of sweet peppers from the greenhouse just for devilment.... However, it all tastes just as good.

Pictures of ingredients, ready to cook, finished product and recipe..

Barry, lt looks lovely but l wonder if your recipe could be tweaked for me to use, to make Green Tomato Chutney?
I have lots of green tomatoes in my freezer that l need to use for something.

I'll make tomato chutney at the end of the season Art, but I harvest the tomatoes as they ripen then quarter, de-seed and freeze them until I'm ready to make it. I seem to remember green tomato chutney being very nice as my first wife used to make it, but I must admit I prefer it with riper toms..

Re: Beetroot chutney

I would also give it a go but Mrs LD doesn't like beetroot so I would end up eating it all myself. Mind you.

Re: Beetroot chutney

Allow me to make the point that I should have mentioned in my post that the recipe isn't mine, but was given to me a few years ago by Coookiecate. Although she hasn't posted on here for over a year I wouldn't to take her credit for such a superb easy recipe...
