Re: have you enjoyed your life?

have you enjoyed your life? is the question that is tricky to answer not that it is over just yet I hope

there have been good and bad times and I can only judge the good versus the bad
a couple of highlights that spring to mind is getting married- Shutting the front door on our first house "its ours" - having the kids - going up the housing ladder

The other side of the coin was my parents passing away - and my nearly didn't come out of hospital.

Obviously there have been other good and not so good times but those above spring to mind

I mostly agree with that, Art.

Although I am sure none of us ask for the bad times, it is how we handle those events that is so important.

Whether we choose to hold on to sadness, loss, bitterness, hatred etc, or find a way of accepting it - even with outside help if necessary - life will still go on, with or without us joing in.

Re: have you enjoyed your life?

Childhood was a bit weird - my parents were from different nationalities, religions, and social class - and neither of them wanted children! When we (3 of us) arrived on the scene we were not allowed to intrude/disrupt their lives at all.

Other than that most of it has been fantastic. Yes, there have been bad times - but I learned from them and moved on to better ones.

I would say there have been good times and bad times but the good times far outweigh the bad times.

Re: have you enjoyed your life?

I have to say that mostly I have enjoyed life. I had a happy uncomplicated childhood. I had good healthy food to eat, loving parents, a solid home full of music and laughter and a decent useful education that taught me all the basics. I was always out and about in the sun, surf and bush and had enough friends. All in all I see myself as very lucky to have had a solid foundation. So many people do not get that. As an adult I've had my ups and downs. I was nearly beaten to death by a skinhead when I was a teenager and it took me some time to recover from that mentally and physically and I spent a bit of time in hospital. I've seen lots of pain, distress, suffering and death in my professional life but I am again, lucky that I have lived a safe life myself to the most part. I have a great family of my own and I have to say I have nothing at all to complain about. As I said..mostly, I am lucky. One roll of the dice and it could have all been very different. I never take life for granted.

Re: have you enjoyed your life?

Enjoyment is transitory. Life is just mostly day to day routine, occasional fun, boring work stuff, short holidays, petty worries and the like. The years just slip by.
