I normally have lbc playing in the kitchen most evenings, and also in the car.

Wasn't there a specific program on the BBC Light Program called "Music While You Work". I seem to recall they didn't play anything with too heavy a beat because factory workers damaged machines tapping along to it.

I am pretty sure it was still being broadcast when I first left the UK.

I think it was called Workers' playtime Bruce, although it was well before my time.

I always check radio 4 to see if anything is worth recording, as you get subjects on that channel you don't get elsewhere. And it's a safe haven from chavs with their chavvy talk.

I just caught an excellent Thinking Aloud on social mobility. I notice The Moral Maze is back from tonight - I always record that. Also Dead Ringers and the first 7 minutes of The Now Show - with Punt and Dennis.

I was often ill as a child, and while in bed upstairs, it was always comforting to hear radio programmes like Music While You Work, and Housewives' Choice on the radio downstairs, while my mother was doing motherly things.
