TV Spies

When I bought my Panasonic "smart" TV, I disabled the internet, for the simple reason I had tablet, laptop and desktop computers to access it. I also read that spies are able to monitor your TV.
Now I see that spies are in fact doing this, making householders vulnerable.

Re: TV Spies

So if they can do that with your TV, what to stop 'them' monitoring you via your webcam on your tablet, laptop, PC?
Where is the sticky tape?

We said just the same Shirley, they certainly wouldn't learn much from listening to our inane prattle...

Re: TV Spies

Could that mean that when they build a smart TV or even a non smart TV, they could install a device that could listen to your conversations and even see what you are up to.
I am thinking that this device could have a rechargeable battery, so even when the TV is switched off it would still be able to spy on you.

Re: TV Spies

They would need a camera & a microphone.

Turn your TV round to face the wall. No problem then!

Re: TV Spies

My belief is that they are doing it already.

In about 1998, my boss was asked to do trials for 'home shopping' on a monitor attached to his TV which had been supplied and set up.

After a period of time he was contacted by someone who asked him to get ready and do as she asked. Then firstly she asked him to press button a and followed by press button b etc. Taking him through the process.
In the end she said can you hear me ? He answered yes.
Next she said press button c. He did She said can you see me ? Yes he said.
She then said, "that's good I can see you too" !!

How long since these wide screen TV's have become popular ? Nice wide panoramic view of you and everyone else too. That IS worrying. Perverts watching little children getting into their pyjamas by the fireside.

That must be the route to go down if it's to be stopped.
I am convinced that this facility has been already installed in those new televisions which is exactly why I do not have one and don't want one. These things don't happen overnight.
