The 2012 Paralympic Games/ ParalympicGB

The 2012 Paralympic Games begins tomorrow, Wednesday the 29th August and ends on Sunday the 9th of September.

About 4000 athletes will be competing and the Paralympic GB team will have just over 300 taking part. The British side won 102 medals in Beijing four years ago and finished second on the table, they are hoping to do as well, if not slightly better this time round. They have a hard act to follow as we have finished second in the medal table for three games now.

Lets hope all goes well for a great games, especially for our lads and lasses.

That was an outstanding number of medals they won in Beijing, let's hope they can keep up the good record.

I will definitely be watching the Paralympics, it makes me feel so proud watching our athletes do well.

What these guys and gals have overcome in life is truly humbling. Lets hope they all do the business, and make us a nation even prouder than we are now of them, and of all those who struggle through life with handicaps of one sort and another.

Come on Team GB. The target is 103 medals and to finish second I believe. I am looking forward to the opening ceremony tonight.

First medal on the board for ParalympicsGB.

Mark Colbourne won silver in the 1km time-trial, C1-C3 class.
Well done Mark, lets hope this is the start of greater things to come.

We are still doing well, tonight I watched the rather lovely 'Hurricane' Hannah Cockroft demolish the opposition in the 100 metres T34 wheelchair race. the time of 18.06 is a new paralympic record.

As I write this we have 4 gold, 11 silver and 5 bronze.

Keep it going.

Felt sorry for Jody Cundy in the cycling, ok so he threw a strop, but goodness me, would'nt you have a little wobble on a bike at the start, what with his disability? His family were well upset and said so, so fair play to them. I thought the judges should have been more forgiving, so its spoilt the games a little for me. Well done to all the rest of the medal winners.
