They Think That They are Heroes!

Watching the machinations, of all of those Remainer MPs, in finding chinks in the Brexiteer armour it becomes clear that they all think that are playing a Heroic role in the defence of the United Kingdom.

They don't seem to get that they are removing the "United" part of the equation, and damaging the majority of the electorate.

Is Fame, a knighthood, esteem, political power what they seek?

What actually motivates characters like Blair, Major, Letwind, and so on, who must, surely, have grasped that they are increasing the loathing, from the electorate, to a point of rebellion?

They all seem to be fairly (or unfairly) rich already.

What makes them want to keep doing the damage?

Re: They Think That They are Heroes!

I think it's because they all have vested interests in the EU. They Chair many major companies and are Directors of many more, on the Global platform.
Another reason why they are all so rich could also be contributed to the vast amounts they get paid for 'After Dinner Speeches'

Major earns £25,000 for his own opinions ( although he's a 'has been'), but have a look at this article. It gives a bigger idea how much is on offer funded by Hedge Funds etc.

Not being an ardent reader of the Guardian, I know not if this is factual or not, but there is no mention of any Labour politician, which would only be expected and as we know, Blair has made massive amounts from his portfolio .

For one : Osborne’s speeches were given in private, but the fees he received had to be disclosed while he remained an MP. In just one week in November – five months after he was fired by Theresa May – he received £187,474 for speeches at banks and hedge funds in London and New York. Among those payments was £34,109 from BlackRock, the world’s biggest fund manager, which has since hired him to work one day a week, for £650,000 a year. He has also been paid to speak by Wall Street bank JP Morgan, and at the annual meeting of the rich and powerful in Davos in January – where he was pictured socialising with George and Amal Clooney – the former chancellor received £51,829 from HSBC. At HSBC’s annual meeting on Friday, the bank’s chairman, Douglas Flint, was challenged about Osborne’s role, and said the former chancellor had talked about global political issues.

That is the one thing they are desperately trying to keep.

I was reading in the paper today that once this is all over, an independent enquiry should be held, not by the establishment themselves, which is usually how it is done, nor by past or serving lawyers or judges. nor by any person or body that has an inkling of connection to what has transpired in our Parliament since June 2016.

The people that are chosen to run the enquiry will be free to ask whatever questions they may wish to, including towards the politicians, Bercow's role, the media, the BBC, and even the Supreme Court judges, with accusations at some of collusion with each other and some of collusion with foreign powers against our own government.

There is also talk of collusion with foreign powers being made into a criminal act, punishable by a three-year prison sentence.
(wish they could do that to the B......s now!).
10p in the swear box. but well worth it.

Why not wait for the history books? History is written by the victors, and since you are sure of winning, no need to worry. History will reveal everything.

Trump puts 20% tariffs on Scottish whiskey and nobody on here is batting an eye lid. But if we have tariffs with the EU it's the end if the world.

I can assure you that there's plenty of anger about Trumps tariff on whisky up here, but there's no point in bleating about it on this forum.

In trump's case it is an extra tarif put on as a punishment by a mean man. In the EU case it is a reciprocal approach based on the famous wto terms your hero farage wants to trade on.
