We have already agreed a system of seasonal workers permits for Eu Residents to work in Agriculture.

The British unemployed do not want the jobs, simple as.

They would rather stay on Benefits.
A trial for two years, for 2,500 workers per year.
In 2015 an estimated 18,000 EU nationals worked in agriculture alone.
Opportunity knocks for UK young to earn an honest living.

Because young people on the EU find it almost impossible to get work there.

But no problem here ...

The farmers usually take seasoned pickers that know what they are doing but I suppose they could take anyone. However farmers are already struggling to book sufficient labour co it seems these unemployed young people are not as keen as you thought and the UK quota os 2500 migrant workers is way short of the numbers required
Perhaps you will be having a fruit picking holiday this year as another member had suggested

Then the 500.000 unemployed between ages 16-24 years will be happy that they all qualify for those 18.000 workers needed.

Another problem is that you don't find many farms in the cities and people have to travel to rural areas for seasonal work.

Not really a great advert for the EU Solly, perhaps you should tell the UK 16-24s how great their future would be in the EU.

you might think that but a farmer friend of mine who grows raspberries says the market demands top grade unbruised fruit if he is going to get the best prices and time is important for cost and delivery reasons. Apparently picking correctly at speed is a lot harder than it looks. Granted some crops are less critical regarding damage such as grape picking for wine but most require people who know what they are doing
