Chronic bowel problems

Some time back I posted a thread about my undiagnosed/ undiagnosable (?) chronic diarrhea which kept me housebound most days.

3 different G.I specialists, with all of their fancy invasive tests could not tell me what's happening.

Well, in desperation I started taking steroids (against my Dr's will) and the diarrhea stopped. Just like that, within 3 days of starting steroids I had a normal, once/day, BM.

22days now, and no problems, no public "accidents".

Dr claims if I continue taking steroids it could become life threatening. I don't care about that. At least I have a normal life once again, for whatever length of time.

In Mexico, I can get whatever meds I want, no questions asked.

Re: Chronic bowel problems

Hi Bakerman the answer to your problem may not be medication but a new treatment which is helping many people after years of misery...
See here and also an earlier thread...

Re: Chronic bowel problems

Steroids won't cure the problem and in the long run could make it worse.

The operation in Megs link will!

I'd see the doctor about it straight away if it was me.

It will cure the problem IF I have psoriasis inside my intestines. I have psoriasis on my hands, on both elbows, under my nails and on one foot. Every day the external psoriasis improves.

If the bowel problem returns I'll see the idiot doctors who, in reality, don't give a rats arse about me. They're just in it for the money.

but thank you for your kind input.

Meg, thanks for the links. I've been aware of that treatment for some time now. The doctors keep putting me off.

Worth giving up gluten for a week just to rule out coeliacs.

Re: Chronic bowel problems

Sounds like me you have IBS.
I have a constant ache in my gut which I can live with after 15 year of discomfort

I am very careful about leaving my house and for the last ten years going out to eat and never to eat unless there is a bog handy but It has happened and I have to shit myself in odd places after eating.

Last attack was in your country...had a Big Mac late at night and was in pain and next morning I shat myself for England.

Think its down to the Fat you use to cook your meals.

If Im going to say your country on a 10 hour flight I never ever eat.

But do drink alot

Re: Chronic bowel problems

Hi Galty, Yes, IBS is a possibility. So are several hundred other reasons. Damn frustrating. The steroid I'm taking is called Prednisone. Some web sites claim Prednisone can cure IBS-D. All I know, or care about, is that for the 1st time in 7 years, I have my life back.

As a working theory, I am medicating myself as if it is intestinal psoriasis. It is working !
