Another day inHospital

Another day in Hospital I didnt feel well yesterday ,breathing was bad, I had a fall last night hurt my leg & back,I was in pain & SOB,.I do not like nurse from the respitory team, he makes me feel like a stupid old woman,he is arrogant ,last week he said using a nebuliser could cause problems with my heart,[ pos heart attack] then ,as he was leaving last Friday, he brought in a nebuliser ,saying that he 'knew ' that I would use it as soon as he left,& that he had made a note to say 'If I used it it was against his wishes,The specialist at the hospital said it wouldnt hurt to use occasionally & said she'd have a word with him.So when I felt ill I rang him for advice, he said he couldnt come , 'but if I had to use the nebuliser I had to do so '.I told him I felt he thought I was a nuisance, but he said ' no I was ill',but then he went on to say that 'I needed a Dr in the house all the time' . [ am I being over sensitive with him ?] I didnt want to go to hospital & was awake most of the night, but by 7am I rang 111 ,they said they could hear my breathing was bad & were sending an ambulance, the crew felt I should to hospital to be checked over, various blood tests/xray shows I am seriously aneamic & iron tablets should be given, & a request for my GP to visit tomorrow ,Im not sure if Ive got to arrange this or they did but Ill ring in the morning to find out, I still dont feel well tonight, but hopefully I will get some sleep,if not I will watch Tele from the comfort of my recliner chair

oh no, Deylon, you poor thing. That nurse doesn't sound very understanding of your condition and how bad you feel. I'm sorry for you you must be so fed up.

Re: Another day inHospital

Deylon, you are frightened when you can't breathe and it sounds like that male nurse was showing no understanding of that fear. I would be tempted to tell your doctor, at the hospital, and ask how you can complain.
We all know that hospitals are overstretched, especially in London, but I do think it is wrong for nurses to be so critical of very sick patients.
A little kindness helps patients deal with their problems a lot better, and comments like "you needed a Dr in the house all the time" are unlikely to reduce a patients stress.

Can I suggest that you take copies of your post & my reply to the hospital? I will be happy to explain the problem if they are interested.

Re: Another day inHospital

Thanks Twinks ,wish I new who to complain to re this nurse, but cannot think of 1 person to complain to,when I saw the 'lung specialist on Monday I mentioned what he said, but this Dr has nothing to do with his dept. & I dont know when I will see this Dr again, apart from this 1 visit ,as her findings are passed on to my GP,I never see the same DR twice,do nor even know them ,they seem to come & go,it is impossible to see my 'named GP' she is booked up for months[ only works 4 morns, a week, her husband is the head partner there & I think she is doing a lot of admin.duties as the surgery is expanding. However I shall try to stick up for myself re this nurse & will make a few remarks to others if /when I get a chance

Deylon, does this nurse come from a clinic or the hospital? See if you can get his name and where he works from and, based on what you have told me, I will write a letter of complaint for you to sign and post to them.
I think you have my e mail address already but, if not, let me know via Pm.
You have had a few health problems over the time I have known you, and an attitude like this nurse has shown is not going to help you get better.
