Lisa darlin' - when I lived in India with my Grandparents - we had snakes (King Cobras) up in the rafters - they ate all the mice and rats that were up there. Sometimes, whilst moving between the rafters they would 'miss' and there would be a 'plop' followed by a loud 'hiss'. The Mongoose and the pet Tiger cub (yes really I had a Tiger cub) would race one another to see who could get there first as that was part of their meals.

Not a lover of them, but like Meg I don't destroy them, we have cobwebs hanging from everywhere in the house.
I do get annoyed when they go over the PIR and set the alarm off, in the dead of night.

Spiders don't bother me too much. Those that find their way into the bath, I gather into something and deposit them outside. I couldn't kill one.

I agree about snakes - I am terrified of them. Worms too.

Yup, hate them. And those spindly ones you talk about? One year I had loads of em. I would find 2-3 every time I walked into the bedroom!! Took me more than a year I think to completely rid. Well, maybe I haven't!! Too many hidden corners for them.

Small ones I try to get in a cup with card over the top. Bigguns - call someone! I keep the fly swat handily beside me. Came in useful in June when one headed towards my chair from under the telly. Eeeeek.

Re: does anyone really like spiders

I LOVE THEM I couldn't kill one. I pick them up if they are stuck in the bath or in danger from my cats. I had a fab one in the other day but managed to get it to run up my hand then put it in a jug and put it outside again. They do come back in again though when its Autumn as they come in from the cold.
I would be frightened if I had a Black Widow in my house but you don't find them in England so there is nothing to be frightened of. Start thinking it as a marvellous being that has lived and survived longer than man on Earth and that it is Gods creature, if you are religious, then look at it as a thing that needs saving from you if you are going to kill it. Poor things.

I hate them, we had some massive ones in S.Africa. One day I saw what I thought was a twig on the curtain, when I moved the curtain this huge thing opened out! I tried to brush it away with a broom and it attacked the broom! Didn't mind anything else there apart from scorpions, they chase you (try to stay in your shadow).I don't mind the "fairy" indoor spiders, but dislike garden spiders and house spiders.

Re: does anyone really like spiders

I wouldn't knowingly kill anything as I have too much respect for the creatures of the planet, and I definitely wouldn't be afraid of anything that couldn't harm me.

I used to be petrified of daddy-long-legs but I cured myself.
