I go out most Saturday afternoons with a great bunch of friends, up to six of us normally.
We generally buy our own first drink as we all usually arrive at the first pub separately. After that and depending on how many of us there are out, we either split into twos or decide to buy one round each per pub.
Some rounds are more expensive but it all equals out roughly the same in the end. Sometimes one person might be lucky and get a cheap round but none of us are so tight as to quibble about it.
Also, it really is a popular misconception that Northerners are tight with their cash. Sometimes we may be careful as we don't have as much dosh as Southerners, but we are very generous and help others out, often to our own expense. It's all about sticking together and we're the best at doing that.
