Re: What’s normal?

Setting your washing machine to normal is like setting your camera to Auto, like sticking to the speed limits in life, but tell me to act normal and I can't help looking suspicious.

Re: What’s normal?

For some years now, since I found out 'how we tick' (long story that is) I never use the word 'normal' in relation to humans and their behaviours, there definitely is no 'normal' in that sense.

Instead I use the word 'usual', it's far more accurate a description for human behaviours. Anyone with an interest in psychology would realise why that is, far too involved to go into here.

Even more worrying none of us are 'normal', let's just hope that we don't ever all get together to meet up at the same time!

As an edited afterthought, I wonder just how we would all get on?

Dead right. Talking about what is normal in a social/ cultural sense is open season. As far as the psychology of an individual goes....Big cross and some strong garlic for mine. We can only talk in terms of behaviour. Because behaviour is subject to social norms. What's inside our heads isn't up for judgement......yet.
