Re: Your car

I don't name inanimate objects so my car is an 'it'

However many, many decades ago my younger brother went mad with a Dymo Label Maker in his car and labelled everything... Bertie Brake, Lawrence (gear) Lever, Sydney Steering wheel etc.

Funnily enough, we have a Ford Mondeo Estate and have never given it a name, to me it is just a big silver car, but have to admit, when we part exchanged our old post office red Mondeo for it, I sat in the front seat on my own to say a final goodbye and felt really awful for deserting her because from the first day we bought her, she had never once let us down, no matter what the weather, she would purr into life with the first turn of the key. I actually quietly thanked her for looking after us! how mad is that??

However, we also have a campervan which we use frequently for days out. We christened her Camilla on the first day.

The first boy I fell in love with drove a 1969 light blue VW bug. Those were some very good times.

The boats, bikes, planes, cars are always females, but the surfboards are always males. I have been known to talk to all of them sooner or later, usually begging them to behave , hence the need for gender.

I've also felt like a traitor to the point of weeping when I finally let them go. All that loyal history together....
