Happy 42nd anniversary to the best thing that ever happened in my life. I love my husband John more than you can ever know
Sweet Sixteen at the Town Hall Dance
I never expected to find romance
A handsome young chap across the room
Made my young heart go flip and boom
As our eyes met, I lowered my gaze
I was shy you see back in those days
I danced with my friend but all the while
We exchanged longing glances with a smile
As you made your way to where I danced
Our eyes then met, we were both entranced
The biggest butterflies inside my belly
All the while my legs turned to jelly
Was this young love that I was feeling
I certainly found you very appealing
The way you looked into my eyes
Made me feel you thought I was nice
From that very first night we’d never have guessed
We both be in love therefore mutually blessed
Who’d have known our love would last
That night was really a long time past
42 years have gone by since that dance
Where we both found a fine romance
I met the man of my dreams that night
After all this time you set my heart alight
One year after meeting you made me your bride
As I joined you at the alter I felt such pride
Remembering with fondness through happy tears
I realise we’ve been married a whole 42 years
Dear John our love has stood the test of time
Always been the greatest partners in crime
At times we’ve struggled but always fought through
Since that beautiful day we both said “I Do”
I love my John more today than the day we married, thank you to him for making me so happy, his continual loyalty and understanding, the respect he show me, always being there for me, loving me, standing by me, caring for me and seeing me through the worst times of my life I could not have got through such times without him by my side.
When God was handing out husbands, he certainly gave me THE BEST and I’d marry him AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN.
All the best to you LQ. I have never regretted one day of my marriage of 30 years. Feels good to have found your true mate doesn't it!?...My hearty congratulations to both of you. YOur poem says it all.
