Not all conspiracy theorists are loons, some are very intelligent articulate people.
They are just people that find certain things very odd / improbable and decide to question it - and why not?

It's not unknown for Governments to blatantly lie is it?

It's been said that no-one ever went broke under-estimating the intelligence of the general public. How true.

In America we have a trashy rag called "The National Inquirer". It always has photos and articles about extra-terrestrials meeting with the president and how Elvis is alive and in hiding. Or how Prince Charles was behind the death of Lady Di, so he could marry Camilla.

Conspiracy theories are their stock and trade. I can't imagine how anyone could be so stupid as to pay for such rubbish. Actually, I can imagine. (crying)
