Re: Shops where you live

I live in a small village with just one post office/convenience store. It's about half a mile away so I use my bike most days when I buy a newspaper and something I've forgotten to buy from the supermarket which is 6 miles away.

Re: Shops where you live

I was clearly spoilt in London.

Here in Suffolk the only nearby place is an Aldi, an 8 minute walk away. There is a McColls/PO but needs the car. Several fish n chip shops and I believe there is a Chinese takeaway somewhere. Then anything else I need the car for a 5-10m drive to the retail park...Lidl, Morrisons, PaH, and more. Another 10m or so is Lowestoft town itself.

There are plenty of supermarkets to the north and south of the town, all needing the car.

I think sis’s experience with the bus recently indicates she wouldn’t recommend it.

Re: Shops where you live

In the small village where I live we have FOUR hairdressers, THREE nail painting shops (there are a lot of wealthy old gimmers living in the village) a butchers, a chip shop, a Chemist (they call it a pharmacy now, it'll always be a 'Chemist' to me) a Pizza shop and a shop that sells something that looks like a pig on a spit but I never go in there, it stinks......
And a convenience store (spa)
but their prices are astronomical..robbin gets!.....

Tesco is a ten minute jog away or a twenty minute walk. I prefer to walk it there with my rucksack (Like Pauline) for the odd item rather than go to the Spa. Not for the saving in money (I couldn't care less what it costs) but it's a very nice walk alongside a field and through a wood.
