The ubiquitous mondeo will cease production in 2022, Ford has announced its killing off the mondeo, a car made synonymous with tony blairs “ mondeo man” , launched back in the nineties to replace the Sierra it was, and still is , a familiar sight on our roads, sad to see it go, but life moves on ...

We had one when the children were young. A beautiful grey-green colour. It was cavernous and was the perfect family car at the time.
Traded it in for the "even more perfect" mpv, 7 seater Renault Scenic which was invaluable with teenagers

Re: End of the mondeo

I particularly remember the process of creating a commercial spot for the facelifted first version launched in 1996, the Mk II, which was to take the car originally positioned as the "world car" upmarket soon.

Moving from propositions like "The car you can push to the limit." (ever heard of any breakdowns?) over "The car that demands respect." i.e., having a presence on the road, to "The discerning choice." (car badges don't matter) and, finally, arriving at "It brings you to your senses." in the commercial.

These may not have been your reasons for buying the car but may, so at least the advertisers may have hoped, influenced you subliminally if you saw the commercial. Who knows.
