As I understand it no. Semi is the next step up from truck then there are B doubles which I think are called multi combination but which can be driven in towns. You have to take a test to go from semi to B double. I am not sure if a Road train licence is the same as a B double but road trains can only be driven in certain areas and have to be broken up before going into a town of any size.

A B double is like two semis coupled and are as common as muck in an industrial area like Wollongong:

These can be driven anywhere in NSW unlike road trains.

BTW I think that is right - I am not an expert on this. A B-Double is a maximum of 25 metres whereas a semi is 19 metres and a road train 54metres

Back in the days before I had my paper licence replaced with this horrible two-part thing which needs replacing every 10 years, I found that a shotgun certificate worked every but as well for photo ID when required ...

The paper counterpart of the two-part licence is no longer legally valid. See link below:

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/d...icence-changes

The paper counterpart of the two-part licence is not required if hiring a car as it used to be. Now it's your photocard driving licence plus your National Insurance number that is usually required.

This website (below) has some useful information, some of it rather obscure but is a requirement. The number of drivers who have not updated their licences as required is astonishing, 1.5m drivers have licences with incorrect information on them. Another 2.2m driving licences have expired completely (2017 figures).

I guess it might be useful if trying to avoid fines or parking tickets but the penalty for failing to update is a whopping £1,000!

Re: Driving License

I have to renew my licence but if I do it online I will lose my C1 and D1 entitlement.
So you have to get these from the Post office but I think it involves medical etc .
What shall I do ?

Re: Driving License

My driving licence is now on my phone. I haven't had to use it yet but I think I will ask the cop for permission to get my phone before I show it to them. It is illegal in NSW to touch your phone while the car engine is running (overkill in my opinion).
