The EU has sanctioned Austria, Poland and Hungary for their right wing populist Govt's.

How will it deal with the IRA in Gov't?

Solly?

Quite. What are the contributing nations actually getting for their huge contributions? What did we, UK, get?

The average man in the street will find out after 2020. Have patience, it will be soon enough.

Sanctions were for not keeping to the promises made in deals their governments signed up to. Not for the kind of government, the EU accepts any as long as it is democratically elected. Otherwise britain would never have been able to join. Bread calls the EU socialistic, so how would the predominantly right-of-the-middle british governments have been acceptable, if the orientation of government of member nations mattered?

So to answer your question. As long as the government with sinn fein sticks to the rules and the agreements, no one cares.

Sorry, but till 31 december, the so called transition period, not one thing changes in day-to-day practice. So no one can actually tell what britain got, or better, is going to get.

Your question doesn't make any sense........Explain please.

Preferably without the passive aggressive undertone.

Good that the EU has some understanding of democratic choice. Pity it struggles to extend that to the Brexit decision.

My point wasn't about the legitamacy of Sinn Fein's democratic success but about the moral legitimacy of it's terrorist backer's continued involvement in the party.

How will he EU deal with that conundrum.....?

Let's face it , the IRA used to have a romanticism attached to it's armed struggle in some European countries ( and the USA) but Jihadist atrocities have shown the reality of terrorism . Not so romantic when they are running around Paris, Madrid and New York are they, Solly?
