The question is, will the UK beg to return before or after the candidate members are admitted.

Didn't john major on behalf of the UK sign the maastricht treaty? Or is that so traumatic for you, you pushed it from your memory?

Re: EU Mandates the Demands from the UK

Hi

Both sides will set out a series of wants in the Trade Negotiations.

We know the EU position, we will know the UK position later today.

Neither side will get everything they want.

The UK has already said we will impose Border Checks on goods coming from the EU and on EU Citizens entering the UK.

The EU may well do the same.

No. Ted Heath sold the UK on the idea of a `Common Market` and took us in without so much as a by your leave. Harold Wilson, desperate to win an election, promised a referendum on whether the UK should remain in the Common Market. Labour won, and the promised referendum was held keeping the UK in the CM.

The whole basis of that CM membership was redefined by the Maastricht Treaty to change the CM to the EU with eventual closer ties with each member country. John Major, took it upon himself to ratify that treaty without the consent of the British people which, as the Treaty was to be a constitutional change, was required. He signed the treaty notwithstanding. That could explain his defence of the EU after the 2016 referendum result and his determination to ignore that result and get it reversed by fair means or foul.

Refuted many times, but the likes of you keep coming up with that.

Politically, the EEC aimed to reduce tensions in the aftermath of*World War II. In particular, it was hoped that*integration*would promote a lasting reconciliation of France and Germany, thereby reducing the potential for war. EEC governance required political cooperation among its members through formal supranational institutions. These institutions included the Commission, which formulated and administered EEC policies; the Council of Ministers, which enacted legislation; the*European Parliament, originally a strictly consultative body whose members were delegates from national parliaments (later they would be directly elected); and the*European Court of Justice, which interpreted community law and arbitrated legal disputes.

Are you referring to the fact that you were one of the instigators of the EU?

The Maastricht Treaty, known formally as the Treaty on European Union,*is the*international agreement responsible for the creation of the*European Union*(EU).
The Maastricht Treaty was approved by heads of government of the states making up the*European Community*(EC) in December 1991.*The treaty required voters in each country to approve the European Union, which proved to be a hotly debated topic in many areas. The agreement took ended*with the creation of the*European Union*and has since been amended by other treaties. The Maastricht Treaty was signed on February 7, 1992, by the leaders of 12 member nations (Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, France, Netherlands, West Germany, Denmark, Ireland, United Kingdom, Greece, Portugal, and*Spain). The treaty entered into force November 1, 1993.
