I am quite bored, though there is housework I could be doing. Instead I am typing the story of something that happened to me, years ago.
I was walking our old dog Brandy through the open fields that would soon be a building site below our house, back along.
We walked passed a patch of brambles, Brandy was off the lead, when suddenly out of the bramble patch ran a ferret, it ran up to Brandy treating her like a friend, Brandy was astonished, I don't think she had ever seen a ferret before. The ferret then ran to me & tried to climb up me, so I sat on the ground & it acted just like a dog, so pleased to see a person. I had nothing with me to catch it, so I put Brandy on her lead as the ferret went back into the brambles. Took the dog home, it wasn't far & went back to the same spot with a bag. Called & the ferret came out & jumped straight into the bag.
Pretty thing she was, we found out later it was female, she was a beige colour. Very friendly, who ever had owned her before had trained her well. She loved dogs too.
I took the ferret home & the man from the hunt kennels, below us, who I knew, said she wasn't theirs & lent me a cage for her. Told me what to feed her & was very helpful.
We advertised her in the local paper & in the shops, but after a few weeks no one had claimed her, we thought it wrong to keep one on it's own, so we offered her to the kennels as they had ferrets & they took her to live with their ferrets, she settled in well with them.
Phew! That's relief. I thought it was going to turn into an up the jeans story.
No she was fine, but my Daughter resorted to wearing wellies when she fed her, in her run, as she'd nip my Daughters ankles if she wasn't quick enough to put the food down.
