Carol , do you have a large house ?The reason I ask is my home is a small two bed terraced . Wall insulation and loft insulation . I won't go cold in the winter , my house is warm , my children tell me too warm .
Yet my gas bill this quarter was £100 , and my electric £88 . I with southern electricity for both .

We are with British Gas for joint Electric and Gas ..... we had our quarterly bill in last week - £345.22.
The breakdown was:
Gas........... £153.04
Electric...... £192.18

Our bills have always been high. It's a three bedroom semi but very old - even the upstairs floors are concrete. It's more spacious than most as we used to have a shop on the front which is now an extra room measuring about 16 ft square. As well as this extra room we have a 20 ft kitchen & a 25 ft lounge. There's also a big front hallway as well as a small back one.We have an old fashioned back boiler and antiquated radiators.
The meter's were read most of the time but sometimes we had an estimate.
