Styes

I've got the biggest most painful stye on my right eyelid. It's been building up for a week and now it's so huge & painful I can't bear to touch it with the hot compresses I've been applying in an effort to bring it to a head.
Does anybody else suffer from styes?
Any tips on treatment would be appreciated.

Re: Styes

Poor you Carol, styes can be very unpleasant. I do get them occasionally and I use Tobrex, drops during the day and Tobrex cream at night. The stye is usually gone within a day or 2. I don't know if you can buy it over the counter in UK, it was prescribed by the doctor here but I can buy it over the counter at the farmacia.

Only once. Self treatment is not a good idea, after a week I would see a pharmacist and take advice.

Re: Styes

Addition Vitamin C, e.g. fruit juice, won't cure it but will assist the healing process.

By the sound of yours Carol you should see your doctor or at least your Pharmacist.

me too, and exactly the same treatment.

If its very painful its sounds as though its ready to burst, you are supposed to leave them to their own devices, they usually take a couple of weeks.
If not gone by then I'd see the Doc
