Well, even in a Fiat Doblo there is never any need to go above 3000 revs (1.9 Jtd). 3500 revs in top gear is around 85 mph. You have to waste fuel by driving hard in a lower gear to try and sort this out which goes against the grain for me that is for sure.

That used to be the whole point of driving a diesel, you did not gain more power by higher revs, automatics must be having problems.
