Re: soup v coffee in a cup question

I dislike soup in a mug, I prefer it served a bowl and eaten with home made bread (which will be my lunch today)..

One reason soup stays hotter in a mug is a bowl exposes the soup to a larger cool surface area than a mug allowing the soup to cool .

I never noticed the temperature difference...probably because I don't take milk in coffee or tea. Try topping up with cold water? Just a suggestion

Coffee will stay hot just as long as soup if you add milk powder instead of milk. We use milk powder quite often and you have to add a splash of cold water to make the coffee drinkable.

Try making a mug of porridge - it stays hot for ages.

Yes, I bet it would, because as I said in the beginning, I reckon the thicker consistency, the slower the heat can escape.

Hmmmm - My late friend Vanessa used to have all that gear with all the whips to go with it. She also had a chain mail suit too, and no I was not one of her clientele.

I'm the same. Soup has to be drunk with a spoon. Dunno why.

Tea always tastes better out of bone china than out of pottery, too. Apparently there's a scientific reason for that, but don't ask me to remember what it is!

Also, why do chips eaten with your fingers taste nicer than chips eaten with a fork?
