Re: SVT'S and Cardiac Ablation.

Hello Mags and Uncle Joe.......

It's a mild heart condition which causes the heart to beat extremely fast occasionally. When I go into SVT mine races off at 250 plus beats a minute and can go on for hours.I usually end up in A & E and am given a drug that reverts the heart to a normal rhythm.

I feel very blessed that it Isn't life threatening but it is debilitating.I went to talk to the cardiologist a few days ago and he suggested I have a Cardiac Ablation which is a procedure where the " faulty wiring " which triggers the attacks is burnt away......

I was just curious to know if anyone had had this op and if it worked for them.

Hope I haven't sent you both to sleep...................lol..x

I hope the docs can sort it out for you, I've never heard of it either.

What does SVT stand for?

Supraventricular tachycardia
Lady Angler.. My other half who is an A&E Charge nurse & who specialised in cardiac care said if its been recommended then its what you need Sorry that doesnt answer your question lol He said some people live with it and just go through the symptoms and for others they need the node sorting to prevent it happening. Good luck

Re: SVT'S and Cardiac Ablation.

I am finding the replies and suggestions fascinating here, as I have suffered from Atrial Fibrilation for the past six years, and which is slowly getting worse. I have been prescribed Warfarin as well as Beta blockers, but no surgical procedures as yet.
I used to get bouts of palpitations which would last from two to twenty four hours. But my last bout has lasted ten days continuously without cessation. I have a scheduled appointment with a new doctor at a local hospital I have never been to before, next Thursday. I am hoping that he will be more enlightening than the ones I have seen so far.
