Poor Girl.

It must have been a terrible shock for the poor Girl, not to mention all she went through. Imagine Ladies (and some Gents) if you wanted to touch up your greys to go to a wedding or some important event and this happened to you!, the Girl tested the stuff first and it was OK, I don't think an apology is good enough here.

Re: Poor Girl.

Good Grief what a mess. I use that brand too when I do my roots. I get the pack for roots...not the big one like she used.
This must be very unusal, surely there's more to it.

Re: Poor Girl.

It's frightening to see what can happen, isn't it?

Here's the story from the Mirror a couple of days ago .....

Re: Poor Girl.

Poor girl - I've heard about this reaction before. One of the breakfast programmes a while ago had a young girl on it who'd experienced exactly the same thing. She'd also done the test and had not had a reaction.

Apparently they say not to use this stuff if you have a scratch or any broken skin on your head which may possibly cause a reaction, also I have heard that the colour black can sometimes cause problems and I see that this girl was using black.

I bought some hair colour before Christmas and noticed a change in the instructions. Before, they would say to leave colour on for between say 30-45 mins, but that's gone now and replaced with words to the effect, leave colour on as per the results in the Test.

I didn't do the test though and have used hair colour for many many years without a problem apart from once when I went orange

Re: Poor Girl.

It is very frightening cos' I dye my own hair and have done for several years, luckily I have never had a reaction to any of the brands that I have used including Clairol Nice N Easy and some of the more expensive brands that have been in the papers.

My daughter did though both her eyes went very sore and bloodshot and swelled up she did go to the doctor who said do not use anything like this again it is very dangerous. She doesn't feel safe using hair dyes since then. It didn't do any permanent damage but it is still too risky for her.

Meanwhile my son has booked me in for a colour, cut and blow as a present for my 60th in a classy salon! To be honest I think it is very unlucky if you have an allergy and don't know it. Then again the manufacturers should investigate and omit the chemical/s that causes this.

Re: Poor Girl.

Looking back now, I think I was so upset after seeing this picture because my only Daughter had a little operation two weeks ago, a pimpley thing on her cheek just below her right eye had been bothering her and see went to see a specialist, I don't know the ins and outs of the procedure, but they removed a piece of flesh then tested it, luckily it was OK. I was shocked when I saw her the next day, her jaw was swollen and her right eye closed up, half her face was purple, you'd think she went three rounds with Henry Cooper, she's just about back to normal now much to our delight.
Why Women undergo cosmetic surgery is beyond me, she says she will welcome wrinkles rather than go through that again.

Thanks Janela, the wife and me were up the wall worrying about her but we tried not to let it show and made light of it with her two boys, we look after them when the daughter is at work..

Re: Poor Girl.

Very frightening Jem, any swelling like this on the face makes me scared that the throat will close and cause suffocation. I did wonder whether she had really done the test. Then I read Kath's post about her daughter who did do one and was still badly affected so I tend to believe she did afterall. Thank goodness your daughter is OK now, was an awful thing to happen to her.
