Your observations are quite correct. Barnier tells the UK what is on offer. As in the last four years, the UK (again) wants the best of two worlds (not to use the term cherry picking). They want something what is not on offer. It's so difficult, handling an obstinate child, but barnier is making a good job of it.
There is no requirement for a WA in A50. Your making things up again. They is a 2 year period where the future trading relationship must be provided by the EU - that has not happened, so the EU is breaking its own laws.

Anyway ...

Apparently, back in 2018 Barnier didn't understand how close Britain was to the rest of Europe so apparently we can't have an FTA now. That's what office boy Barnier said recently in interviews.

Suits us, as our Prime Minister has said - if we can't agree an FTA then we will continue without one. It won't bother the EU one bit that thousands of EU businesses hit the skids as a result of Barniers failure to deliver. The EU political ideology and socialist purity is worth more to them than the people they control.

The EU elite are nothing more than an overpaid civil service filled with socialist ideologists that have never had a proper job in their lives.

What a bunch of clowns eh

Agreed. Let's go for an Aussie-style WTO non-agreement with the EU and be done with it.

I have to hand it to you. You are good at making things up. But it disqualifies you as a serious opponent in debates.

Union shall negotiate and conclude an agreement with that State, setting out the arrangements for its withdrawal, taking account of the framework for its future relationship with the Union.

I have been of that opinion a long time. It is the only way for the UK to learn its lesson. Pity the corona pandemic will obscure things.

To be honest, I have never bothered to read Solash's blatherings, so perhaps I have missed something, but I'd be interested to learn what the reasons are for the EU dictators refusal to offer us a trade agreement like the one they have with Canada, especially since it was apparently offered before.

I assume that part of their deal with Canada does not include the right for them to fish in Canadian waters, neither is Canada obliged to pay any 'membership fees' to the EU.

Are we being treated differently for some logical reason? Perhaps we are 'too close' to the European mainland and that, for some reason, makes it impossible for us to have the same sort of trade agreement as that they have with Canada. Or is it something to do with the Channel Tunnel?

Two possible reasons for the EU's reticence occur to me.

For one thing, I wonder whether the EU dictators are annoyed with us for wishing to leave their total control. Canada, of course, has never been part of their empire.

On the other hand, perhaps it is because we have been paying money through the nose to the EU for so many years and that they are a trifle upset that they are losing their cash cow and, consequently, are doing their best to attempt to keep us under the thumb.

I think this is the only response you comprehend: 👍

The reason why they whelched on their offer in 2018 is that back then Barnier hadn't realised how close the UK was (geographically) to the EU so we would be too competitive

^^^ seriously that's why.

I think you're right. You would be competive because of the playing field not being level. That's called unfair. But that is not a british term.

Assuming he went to school.
