Re: Dictionary

When I was a kid we were presented with a set of A-Z dictionaries by an acquaintance of the family. Apparently she went to an auction and somehow managed to buy them without realising the fact because she nodded her head so much when chatting to the person with whom she was sitting!

I`ve got a French-English one. I use the computer if I need anything else.

Re: Dictionary

We have a whole reference library including not a few dictionaries, and like Antibrown we have the Encyclopaedia Britannica (cost a fortune and now you can get it on disc for a few quid).

But I have to say, that more often than not, I use Google as my personal spellcheck.

Re: Dictionary

I've got 3 dictionaries. Each time I have bought a new one I have kept the old as I discovered a long time ago that words change and as well as new words, your new dictionary could have a word or two missing.
I do use an online dictionary a lot of the time but nothing like looking things up in a book!
