Rooney to stay at United

Manchester United have just announced that Wayne Rooney is to stay until at least 2015.

No news on the new contract details.

Big deal! Rooney seems to be a highly unpleasant, grossly overpaid young man whose only skill is kicking a football, and he can't do that very well these days.

He has been in the news for some more savoury reasons DS.

In my view it is typical Manu.
All mouth and changes of minds to suit the press.

I just can't see how any footballer, however talented, is worth the money these top players get!

Re: Rooney to stay at United

I agree footballers get really high salaries but do they?

Do they have to pay high taxes, Agents fee's, addition insurance for injury, they on the whole have a short playing life and need to invest for the future.

I spoke to Nat Lofthouse once really interesting ex footballer, who is by no means well off now, but his pay was very high for its time at £10.00 a week.

Read about Nat ; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nat_Lofthouse

Wow! Manxman, I got half that when I was with Accy. and I was not an international. ( Probably why they went bust) He retired a year to soon or he could have got a lot more.

Nat stayed with Bolton for his entire career so it surprises me about his salary. The late Duncan Edwards was getting nearly double that of Nat, or at least he used to tell us that.

What a turnaround!!! I didn't expect that...

He has upset many of his Man U team-mates in the process so will have to work extra hard now to win them round.
