Over 50s Club Yorkshire

Having just (!) noticed that we have sections in 'Over 50s Clubs' entitled:

'Over 50's Club Scotland' and

'Over 50's Wales club'

surely shouldn't we also have an

'Over 50s Club Yorkshire'?

After all, there are as many Yorkies as there are Scots and a good deal more than there are Welsh.

Well done. That's two of us now!

I should have posted this in 'Over 50s Clubs'. Perhaps, if it takes off, the mods could move it.

Well, I'd like to join you. Just been looking at the other clubs to see what they talk about, general chit chat it seems.

Three! Wow, things are looking up.

If this gets off the ground we could have several sub-sections:

cricket,
national parks,
holiday resorts,
places of historical interest,
Yorkshire pudding recipes,
Yorkshire dialect, and
ways of avoiding spending money
for example.

Yes, especially ways of avoiding spending money!

Re: Over 50s Club Yorkshire

A while back I was thinking of starting a Essex Club but thought better of it. No bugger would join it.

Now this Yorkshire one as interested me. I were born in North Yorkshire still love the foods and the dialect and the flat caps mushy peas. My favourite teary movie as always been Lassie Come Home.
When I used to visit Boro I would always make a point of visiting Whitby for me fish n chips and mushy peas. I would pile my sisters and brothers in my car and drive across the moors like a mad hatter going to a tea party.
I would always amuse me how the blood would drain from their faces after a drive to Whitby those steep hilly roads were certainly not to their liking.

Re: Over 50s Club Yorkshire

Well .... any real Yorkshireman knows there's no such place as South bl**dy Yorkshire. They're Ridings lad, and I'm proud to be from the East Riding, and no I will not join this so-called Yorkshire group. Too many people slipping in under the wire for my liking, AND nobody has mentioned the Yorkshire Independence group. This is widely acknowledged as God's Own County and I'm issuing a warning: be suspicious of incomers.
