Swimmy, I have a foolproof method

Watch the horses as they are warming up in the paddock

Find a pretty one, preferably a grey

If it has a really stupid name or a name that I can make a connection with in any way - Thats the winner

Works at least once a week

I have always been keen on horse racing and sometimes went to the races. Back in the 70s & 80s my husband and I would always place a bet on Saturdays and usually watch the race on TV.
I have been into a bookies maybe 10 times in my life, but only stayed long enough to put my bet on or collect my winnings, but the bookie always recognized me in the street and still does.

Moving betting to online was when I lost interest and it has also encouraged people, who are to lazy to walk to the bookies, to continue betting when they lose, so I expect that the men who spend the day in the bookies do the same!

Watching my father in law fritter away his pay packet every weekend on the gee gees was awful.
